The Hospitals Vision
The Shmuel Harofe Geriatric Medical Center is a Government Hospital which has been run by the Ministry of Health since 1980 and contains 355 hospitalization beds. The center serves a population of about one hundred thousand residents over the age of sixty-five in the coastal plain and southern Gush Dan Region.
The hospital's vision
The Shmuel Harofe Hospital sets for itself, as one of the basic principles, a view point of the patients and his family being at the center of things, regarding the elderly patient as "an all-inclusive person", in holistic terms from which is derived and approach of devotion and sensibility to the needs of the individual with a commitment to the highest standard of medical and nursing-care treatment provided by professional personnel who are experts in the geriatric field. The object is to ensure a human approach to every patient and his relatives, treating him both as a patient and as a human being. Special emphasis is placed on the development and fostering of human resources, which is expressed, inter alia, in the encouragement of a large number of employees to participate in academic studies and continuation courses.
As a University Hospital affiliated with Tel Aviv University the medical, nursing-care and paramedical staff is trained and qualified in all the departments and units as a clinical field for medical and nursing students.
There is in the hospital, a scientific unit for geriatric research. The researchers are engaged in research with the approval of the Ministry of Health and selected findings of the research are presented at national and international conferences and are published in the scientific press.
The Shmuel Harofe Hospital has as its motto the advancement of the Medical Center on the medical, nursing-care and research levels as well as in terms of the level and the standard of service and approach to patients by the medical, nursing-care and paramedical staff, performing their functions with a maximum of commitment and skill. |
